coderman: this is very similar to a number of diffirent problems that affect windows systems and wireless cards with crappy firmware
coderman: for windows, the network auto discovery stuff in XP loves to shit on a good connection
coderman: for firmwarez, if you have poor antenna diversity control your card will keep switching to the shitty port periodically just to see if maybe it is better, but no, it still sucks, and your connection sucks now too. ooops, lets switch back.
coderman: and obviously all the fun higher level impact this has on network stacks (cough, tcp, cough) that interpret latency as congestion
