Congratulations Or Even A Sigh Of Relief Are A Waste Of Time

seti: Democratic Party planners in the U.S. better take heed of this advice.

"Nowhere in the Bible does Jesus have a sword fight."

seti: (via)

National Geographic Puts LSD Under The Microscope

In praise of Nancy Pelosi

Reuters: U.S. states launch lawsuits against healthcare plan

seti: That didn't take long.

The Rude Pundit weighs in on yesterday's Tea Party threats of civil war if healthcare reform should pass

thelink: funny how many of those usa citizens oppose compulsory confisccation of their wealth along practically any grounds except they cheer when their federal-tax funded military goes abroad to kill us poor little ol' foreigners
thelink: the main link is about this
seti: the last two wars weren't actually paid for by taxpayers but were added to the deficit
thelink: oh yeah, i forgot the main "reason" to go to war: plunder

(rechump) how complicit is the pope in child abuse conducted by the catholic church?

thelink: reposted to question: "regarded as a secret of the Holy Office … under the penalty of excommunication" ... who in their right mind would not want to be excommunicated from this 'church' after finding out about attrocities its authorities have committed??????
thelink: so how can that 'threat' possibly be used to explain silence by its members?
thelink: O NOES THE BWIAR PAAAAATCH!!!!!

Communist Propaganda-Arm, Reuters, on the benefits of the Healthcare Reform in the US

thelink: there now, that didn't hurt, did it?
thelink: seems to be a case of usa still not getting it ... "Most people will be required to obtain health insurance coverage or pay a fine if they don't. " ... so people with very low income are actually penalised ... there are tax credits for low income earners, but that is only useful if you are making enough to pay much tax ... <smacks head on keyboard>
thelink: please let me be wrong.
seti: those people can get subsidies from the government to help them pay.
thelink: currently that's from the states, if i understand correctly ... does this change that? i believe the amount of help varies from state to state ... and is not very useful in some states ... i may be wrong about that too :)
thelink: or am i thinking of unemployment benefit, food stamps etc ...
thelink: perhaps explained here ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_the_United_States
thelink: what i think is most questionable about the US system, and which has been inflicted on systems outside the US after political pressure and in emulation of our Successful Big Brother, is that the system is almost entirely private
thelink: which naturally puts commercial motives ahead of social benefit, and seems to entirely miss the moral underpinnings of the Hippocratic system of western medicine
thelink: underpinnings which as a result seem to have been largely forgotten, eg the oath sworn by doctors in my own country no longer bears much resemblance to the Hippocratic Oath (yeah we can name the new forms Hypocritic Oaths, for all the money-grubbing hounds in medicine now)
thelink: and their care leaves much to be desired
thelink: same thing for what passes for education, charity etc .. :p
thelink: even so, the words 'money', 'wealth', 'status' are currently not mentioned on the wikipedia page for triage ... why do hospitals and doctors anywhere insist on recognising them for that purpose then?
thelink: MEDECINE IS COMMUNISM! O NOES!

A conservative view on the political consequences of Healthcare reform

thelink: O NOES!!!1~!!! ;-\ "today’s defeat for free-market economics and Republican values is a huge win for the conservative entertainment industry. Their listeners and viewers will now be even more enraged"
thelink: if that's the worst fallout, bring it on ... sounds like it must be a good bill
